  1. Mr. Robinson does have a point about everyone having an interest in education it just slowly drifts away because the education system makes your interest seem like they are not good enough.Everyone has their unique love for education and their reason(s) for wanting to stay in school, but not everyone end up doing what they dream of. I feel this is because the education system enforces what subjects matter the most and you can only get a good job if your take up certain classes. As a result, students find interest in a more challenging subject such as math instead of music and put off what they really want to do in order to survive in the "real world". As students we are all being prepared for years to come yet, no one knows what it will be like in a few short years for now. I mean who's to say a muscician will not be the highest paid profession in a few years because based off our generation almost every kid wants to be involved in more music careers than police officers and lawyers. Teachers, Parents and other "role models" should allow their child or student to make that career choice and support them along the way because who's to say that person won't be successful or maybe one career could lead to a better job, better career or a new invention. If we are not prepared to be wrong we will never come up with anything original. This relates to the exercise we did in class today based on advertising the orbit gum. As we sat at our desk to free write whatever slogans came to mind no one thought about being wrong or wanted to edit their thoughts because we knew if we were to dwell off other ideas we would come up with great ones.Being creative can mean being wrong in one way or another because no one get it right on the first try. I do agree with Ken Robinson when he said, "we get educated out of it"100 because many children start off drawing pictures and picture how they see themselves in the future until education ruins it.120 Education ruins creativity for children at a young age because it dilutes the students interest into the what public education feel is more important. The public system make the students believe their dreams and goals are not good enough. Using the example of Ken Robinson, "Don't do music, you're not going to be a muscician" this is all part of the educational system to dominate these students learning ability and restrict them of their interest. I feel like this200 is the reason why so many kids drop out because these teachers are telling them their ideas and dreams are not good enough and will never make it with the perfession of their dreams. 234

  2. first of all i like to start of with the fact i think he is a funny guy because he actually had me laughing pretty hard.but i do agree that he has a point there when it comes to education just for the simple fact that i believe a lot of people have interest in there education because of a lot of people go out of there way of trying to make there lives easier but going to school and trying to make people proud but one of the problems that we do have is that we have a lot of bad school system and i know that for a fact because i had some teacher who just never care if i went to class or if i even did there work because they knew they where getting paid either i focus or not witch should not be the problem for the simple fact that doing something that you like or love should not bother any teachers to go out of there way sometimes to put pressure in there student and a lot of teachers seem to do that a lot.teachers or other students who are careless about other students education dont understand that by bringing all the negativity brings people down and it comes to a point where kids are ashamed to answer questions or ask questions because they dont want to be wrong or be made from of i do agree as well hat creativity is also apart of educations because of the simple fact that we have a lot of of people who are really good at art, music, designing and all types of creativity because its something that they feel good about doing and it makes them feel better knowing that there good at something that someone could be proud of and because of does reasons now a days we dont have a lot of kids going to school because they have no one to look up to or have no one that makes them feel like they are doing something good for them self, one to be able to say i am proud of you to make them see things differently and in tell we change does negative things things will stay the same or even get worst .

  3. Ted Robison mentioned a lot in his speech that sparked my mind and made me realize the similarities between creativity and education. Which, they both should be treated as one then two different things. Like when kids come up with an creative idea or they may think something is right but it’s not, they are not afraid to be proven wrong Ted Robison stated. He also said if your not ready to be wrong then you will never come up with anything original. Furthermore when these kids grow into adults many kids loose this mind state and become scared of being proven wrong. I total agree with that statement because I know as a kid, I myself I use to do things that I thought was right. Like when I was in the 5th grade I thought it was okay to draw pretty little flowers on the desk so that is look nice and not plain and boring. However when I was told I was wrong it was not a big deal for me because I was will to learn the correct way. But now at the age that I am at I do not like to be told I’m wrong especially if it’s my own way of doing things. The more older we get the less creative our minds may be. This may also cause problems or reasons for why some kids stop going to school. They may think in their minds like what’s the point in trying to participate if their answer is going to be wrong. Robison asked the question why do they teach more math in school then they do dance? Why not? This is a very good question I do not mind knowing myself. Education may be taught more then activities is probably to get kids to understand the important factor of life, that’s what I think. Also receiving degrees that will provide you with a good career job and good education. I agree with Ted when he said people have to move to move to think. This is true because I know some people that can not stay still and focus, but as soon as they start moving it’s like a light bulb goes off in their heads. I find this very interesting. The way kids are taught is the kind of person they will grow be in life. I also agree with that statement because my mother always use to tell me as a child and still tells me till this day do not follow or hang with the wrong people because there bad habits can affect you. So therefore I believe this because I once realize this happing to me. Ted Robison could not have said his speech any better, it was amazing.

  4. I believe creativity plays a big role in people’s education, and of course in their every day life. I think everyone has a little creativity inside of them. Even those who claim to not have any creativity within them has, but it was not discovered yet. I did not know of my creative side until I actually took art and art history classes. When I was in high school, more exactly in 11th grade, I was introduced for the very first time to an official art class. That class was believed to be one of the toughest curriculum within my school; that was due to my teacher who was teaching a high school level class as if it was a college course. Her main goal in her class was to make out of her “boring” students, new artists. Everyday she will tell us that the skills learned in her class will benefit everyone in any field of their choice. For example, in that class I learned how to correctly use color pencils. I know it may sound insane, and that everyone knows how to color by using pencils, but what most people do not know is the amount of pressure one should put on their pencil when they are coloring. That was a skill that took weeks to master. Just one simple skill such as the amount of pressure one should put in a color pencil, could help a future surgeon in their career. You may wonder how is that possible; well think about this, surgeons have to have full control of their hand movement when they have a scalpel in their hand. They need to know the exact amount of pressure they need to apply in order to have accomplish a successful surgery. Now that is a skills that many could not find the relation between artists and surgeons. This is just a simple example of a skill learned in a art class and how it could benefit someone in a different field. I have learned to master many other skills due that art class such as, time management, self-problem solving, thinking in depth and how to self assesst. I strongly believe that art courses should be taken more seriously by all education systems around the world. Art classes do not mean just to make drawings on paper, or gluing things together and call it a piece of art. Art classes allows students to become more aware of themselves. Besides, art classes are some of the courses that gives people the total freedom of expressing themselves as well as sending a message through their own vision (originality). In the end, I do agree with Ken Robinson, and I strongly believe that people should be pushed to discover themselves within their own creativity. We are allowed to be different. When you are different you are unique, you are original.

  5. Mr. Robinson stated that education and creation are both important in our society. However, people treat them in different ways. People pay more attention to education while ignoring innovation. I can understand this situation because all of us think higher education can bring us better job. Ten years ago students is rare, you can get job if you have degree. But now, a lot of students can’t find job. This is how our world is. We should be developing in many ways, we should have some unique skills. This is how create is important to us. For example, Steve Jobs who is founder of Apple Company, creates Iphones and Ipads to become a billionaire. His success not because he had a high education, he insisted on his own creation. In the beginning, his Apple company is bankrupt, but he didn’t give up and he still insist of his creation. Until now, Apple’s market value has exceeded 500 billion. Does Steve Jobs different with us? I don’t think so. He is a normal person who has a pair of eyes, a nose and a mouth. But his unyielding spirit is that we don’t have. Failure is the only way to success. A lot of us give up our dream because their parent’s interference. Parents want us to make the best choice, but this society is different from theirs. We should stick of our hobby, not because of the interference of parents to give up. Usually, parents want you to become a doctor or lawyer, but if you don’t like, you need to say no. The reason is very easy, the career will follow you entire life, you should find the one you really like.
In conclusion, education and creation are both important in our society. We can’t neglect one of them, and we should insist in our interesting. We shouldn’t give up easily.

  6. Watching this video gave me such a different perspective of education. This man spoke many truths about our educational system. He mentioned how our educational systems are formed so that they can form us into University professors. They don’t show us how to become creative, or if we already are how to extend our creativity. They just teach us that 1plus 1 equals 2 and this is what you need to learn to have a great job. If this was the case, then there wouldn’t be these great dancers, choreographers, musicians and more. Not all the best jobs involve being a professors or computer technicians. Now, if you find that having industrial jobs are what you love, then of course you are going to learn from our education system. However, what about those who express themselves through music or through dance? How are they being taught techniques on how to execute it better? Though, many who have sought higher education to make a future for themselves, don’t find them. Ted made a point about this. He mentioned that those who had degrees would easily find a job. If you didn’t have one is because you didn’t want one. That’s certainly not the case now. Now more than ever it seems that you need to offer something different that your competitor doesn’t offer to get these high end jobs. One has to be more creative. If we are outgrowing our creativity, how can we then prove that we are qualified? We start out from when we are young taught to be more outgoing and color. Taught to show our feelings onto paper and show how creative we can get. The older we get the less we show ourselves, the more we just a programed to think and get the right answer

  7. Watching Ted Robinson's speech was inspiring to me because he talked about how many people don't use their strengths cause of the educational system. One thing that caught my attention was that back in generation he quoted "if you had a degree, you had a job". which is true cause now and days people are forced to get a higher education as they possible can so they can get a job and be able to make a living for themselves. Which to me is saying that the educational system is corrupt and it isn't fair those those who has a bachelors and still can't find a job. It tells me that the government is trying to make us spend more money and make it more difficult for us to find jobs. Another key point that Ted mentioned was the girl who was a dancer and many people thought she had a learning disability, but that wasn't the case. She just loves to dance and move around cause that's just how she thinks. I think everyone who wants to do something that they love should go for it, but since the educational system doesn't work that way. Its impossible to do something that you love to do. Like Ted Robinson said "We might not see the future but our job is to help build that future and to make it better". Ted said that were born with creativity, but as time goes one we start to lose that creativity. I think its true because were always told that certain things were not good at so it makes us believe that were not. Which isn't fair because certain people are good at art but has a job somewhere that has nothing to do with what there good at and there also very miserable. One last thing that really had me thinking was when Ted mention about us being wrong and how it could mentally make you afraid of making wrong decisions.

  8. I always felt that creativity was something very interesting. Seeing this video just enlightens my thinking. Ken R said many things that cough my attention and that I can relate to. One of them being kids will take chances. They’re not afraid of being wrong. This is true because I have a nephew that lives with me and as much as I tell him "you can't do that" or "it won't work" he will still try it whenever he can. At the end I just give him that look and he just laughs and walks away with a satisfaction of "at least I tried it". I feel like I understand him a little better due to the video. Ken R mentioned a story of a girl in which her school though she had learning disorders. People believe that she had what is now called ADHD. My nephew also was diagnosed with that but after seeing this video I feel like he's going to be a NBA player or an athlete because he can't stay still. Mr. Robinson also talks about us not being prepared to be wrong will stop us from inventing anything original. This makes a lot of sense to me because I believe as you make mistakes you can fix it but also make it better resulting in other ideas or aspects of something that you never though of. I like the fact that he mentioned Picasso's quote "All children are born artist". I feel like every one has a creative side. Being human itself was a creation therefore everyone must had it. However, as Ken Robinson said the problem is not being able to find it. As Mr. Robinson said the education system basically trains your mind into the basic math and literacy. How is that suppose to help the next dancer, singer or musician that people really want to be but can't express. Schools expect a creative side but don’t help you find it. Then you fail for not being creative enough. Ken R said remaining an artist as we're growing up was also the problem. As little kids we could create beautiful designs and paintings and that’s originality because we're using our imagination but as you grow and get into the school systems imagination disappears. When I was a freshman in high school art was a required class. I though I was going to fail because I though I had to be a good drawer. I noticed when I began class that I was the only one really paying attention. For some reason I was really interested. My teacher would always push me every time to make these big portraits but I was always so afraid. He basically believed in me and told me I was creative and also told me I was his favorite student because I never gave up. Even after that class was over he would still mentor me in drawing. My point is that I never knew I was a pretty good drawer. He pulled it out of me teaching me how to think creatively. In conclusion, I agree with Ken Robinson. I do believe people should be tough how to revile their creativity. Everyone’s entitle to have there own imagination shown.

  9. Education is always a interesting topic to me. Each and every individal has an interesting education.Everyone learns at there own pace.Their are many people that work for their education religion and to get money to have better life styles and be able to succeed in what they do. Today creativety is very important in education. Ken brought out that "all children are born artists".This is a gift that each individual is born with. Ken also spoke about different mental illness that people can get." The whole world is golfed in revolution".The acadamic ability that some people have is limited by lack of understanding. some people may have the ability to do many things at once, such as woman that can cook and take care of the children all at one time. On the other hand, a large amount of men are not as prone to do the same thing. However, staying focused on one task, is some times difficult for many men. The education system around the world is all the same, children learn the basic materials needed such as reading, english, math, etc. what about the other things, such as dance; all children like to dance, but many educational system donot include that in the acadamic schedule for children in schools all around the world.Technology today has changed in many different ways, we have phones and computers, the internet. The internet has been taken the entire world by storm for many years. The world wide web (www) is a great source to find out all types of information. Living in this is a beatiful world is a gift that has been over seen by many. However, there is an abudant amount of diversity throughout our society. And sadly This promblem is worldwide.

  10. I agree with ken Robinson that now in days the human imagination is not appreciated as much as it was in the past. Is as if society believes if you are not academically successful you have no value at all. I notice every school I been to in the United States weather it was private or public education all they really value was how well I was able to read, write ,and solve mathematical equations. When I was attending school in the Dominican Republic It was not only about your writing, reading and math abilities but we also had sports, music, dance and art which were mandatory to take at least one of these classes of our choice. Not only was it mandatory but we also had to do very well in the one we choose because education was not only about having a strong mind but developing a strong body as well. Even though in the United States in many schools arts, music, sports and dance are also available there not mandatory and there is very little importance in these activities. I also agree with ken Robinson that many of us spend hours doing math and literature because it will help us get a degree and a job but we don’t spend time drawing or painting because we believe we will not become an artist. I know that such skills as writing and math would help us with our everyday life but how could learning to solve math equations or read a story and write an essay expand our creativity? Is just something that’s being tough to us by someone else, but if we learn to draw or to play a music instrument we can expand our imagination by creating our own paintings or even our own music. There are many things we can use our creativity in. We can use our creativity to create our own dance moves or steps, or draw what we see in our imaginations, but what can we really create with math or reading? I believe that we should all be valued not only by what we know but also by what we are able to do with our creativity and imagination. I also agree with ken Robinson’s idea that education is very diverse because we all have different talents and things we are very good at.

What Ted Robinson had to say was quite interesting. I would have to agree with what he had to say. Education is important, but as kids grow up they do get scared to be wrong. I agree with that because that is how I was. When I was younger, I never payed attention in class, I would just not care about school at all until I hit high school. It was really bad to the point where I would be in summer school ever year until High School. The reason was because, I just always wanted to draw. Every other subject I would give up on because I would always get frustrated by learning math, or learning how to write properly. When I was younger I would just draw all over my notebooks and paper. I remember when my dad went into my book bag and I got in trouble because instead of taking notes all there was were drawings. I was grounded a lot for just not caring about school because all I wanted was to draw. When I got to high school, that motive had just went through the window. My creativeness and need to draw whenever I wanted to is just gone to the point where I just don't feel like that's what I want to do anymore. This is why I agree with what Mr. Robinson had to say that, as kids that's where all the creation is but in the world we live in, as we grow up that creativity goes away because all have is to care about a high education and to be able to find a good job. These day's if you don't go to college you basically get a job at places that doesn't pay well and it's just somewhere you don't ever want to be. These day's we have to have a college degree or you will have a hard time trying to live a good life.

  12. There were many interesting topics and points that Ken Robison made. One topic that really caught my attention was when he spoke about creativity and how important it is in education. The fact that he decided to appoint this topic through children is what made it more easier to catch my attention. Kids currently tend to be pushed aside; they don't get as much recognition as they should. Kids aren't afraid to take chances and be creative, this gives them room to make mistakes and be wrong. Our society now looks down on mistakes, but if it wasn't for mistakes and taking risks our education system, our music industry, and even our communication industry wouldn't be where it is today. Taking risks and being creative helps advance our society. Another point that caught my attention about Ken Robinson's speech was when he spoke about the subject hierarchy. He pointed out how almost every country think the same in subject wise and how drama, singing and dancing isn't seen as important as math and how it should be seen as important or even more. Coming from a theatre arts high school I understood exactly what Ken Robinson was trying to say. Subjects like drama helps one move out of their comfort zone and express themselves in ways one never thought. I believe that if kids, teens or even adults were to experience a different way that they can express themselves their academic ability would shoot off the roof. It gives people a chance to experience education in a different way and pace. Also when he was speaking about people who have a degree they have a job and if you didn’t have a job you didn’t want one. This is actually true because now and days you need a degree for everything. But people tend not to do anything because you need a MA for professions so a BA can’t really get you anything anymore.

  13. Seriously I agree with Mr. Robbison in everything he says, creativity is an important phase of our lives; its what make us unique in a certain way. When our imagination grows and work and we express ourselves in what we good give happiness to our souls. On the other hand, what we think is important, if we get the chance to use our imagination to create something good for others and for ourselves with have to enjoy, and fight for what we want to be in life.

Some people are born as natural artist, but they dont get the chance of showing it to the world because ether they dont believe in themselves or is someone telling them that they not good at it, just like Mr. Robisson said, sociaty is responsible for the lack of creativity, why? because they dont let it grow out of our minds.

For example, I been a dancer for years, but I have seen very talented people trowing their dreams away because someone else told them that they are not captable of doing such a thing. And that is the society in which we live. However, they are associations, schools and some other people that help this people to make their dreams come truth, but what happens when we stop ourselves for doing what we dream of or when we stop believing that we can really do it? and my answer to question is that it doesnt matter how many times we felt down, or how many people says that we can not do it. If we believe in our selves we will fall and we will stand p again and again. Because thats what we have to learn from the best school which is life.

Education is important English, Math, Biology and many others, but to use our creativity in the way we want is priceless.

  14. A very funny and lay back guy throughout his whole speech.I agree with him in so many ways. Creativity in education is important and it also play a big role in our everyday lives. Education can be fun if we just use creativity. As he mention professors in university doesnt not use creativity to their students they just want them to learn and be sucessfull.Mr Robinson said using creativity in education can make children extremely excited for education and want to learn more.I always thought education was boring ever since i took HUP 101 my professor show me the importance of it how we can make it exciting in our livesand be sucessfull at it.Most students would rahter find music or dance class fun instead, they find interest in challenging subjects like math ext....My sister always finds dance in music class boring because she thinks her teachers dont find a lot of creativity in them all you do is move your body all over the place(weird)as for math ,reading. and science she finds it fun interesting and lot of creativity that would push more students to learn and be interesting in education.Back in the day having a degree did not matter even if you did you will still have a job.Now having a degree depends if you would have a good job or not. he states that we need need inteligence because it active and it motivates us to learn more.since technology is popular now it making education way harder to teach then back in the day. creativity in education has value.

  15. Ted Robbison took the topic of education and creativity quite good, I agree with many of the things he says on his speech but the point that mostly caught my attention is where he talks about human creativity and how we no longer have that, as we are getting older we grow out of our creativeness. Furthermore, I also agree with his opinion that "Education is meant to take us in this future that we can't grasp." Now if we don't have a degree we aren't able to get good jobs, for an example lets say you leave your true passion which is art because people tell you that being an artist won't get you nowhere so you put that aside to get a degree, but when you get your degree your not guaranteed a job you might get a good job but its not certain you will get it so that leaves you with nothing but a piece of paper called "degree". I think its absurd how having a good job depends on a piece of paper. I believe that people should pursue whatever they want even if people tell them it wont get them anywhere because it's your life , you don't want to throw away your dreams to settle down for something that your not even a bit interested in. Moreover, another point that caught my attention was when he spoke about how all the countries have the same learning system. How Math, English, and Science are seen as the mandatory subjects students need to take and Drama, Music and Dance are not. I think that they should also be mandatory to take because they are also important subjects as the rest. Ted also spoke about how creative kids are and how they are not afraid to be wrong they just do it even if they know themselves it is wrong. But as they grow older they start being more afraid of being wrong. They educate the creativeness out of kids when they really shouldn't.

  16. After watching this video I realized the educational system is teaching children what they believe is the most important information to become successful for their future. The problem with that is no one is sure about the future. It is a rare occasion for a public school to find a child innate talent. Everyone is talented I someway. Sir Ken Robinson tells a story about a little girl who was having problem in school, but her parents took her to a specialist too find out what problem she has. She was very hyper child. The specialist came to the conclusion she was a dancer because as she was in the room as the radio was on playing music she was moving to the rhythm. They put her in dance school, she excelled and was successful.Dance and other performing art subjects are not taught as strongly as math and other subjects in the educational system. The creativity children has are being loss as they go through the education system. The reason I say that is because in the education system your answer is ether right or wrong. A creative wrong answer is still wrong according to that system and theirs credit for a wrong answer. The older the child get the more he's afraid to be wrong to show his or her creativity. The activity in class showed me how much I am lacking in creativity end of school. I only came up with three slogan for the gum. It was free writing in class and it helped me use my creativity. Thanks to Ken Robinson video, it really enlighten me on the subject of creativity. His message was clear and I agree with it.

  17. Basically Sir Ken Robinson generally states that we need to value creativity because we are not creative anymore. Kids are the hope for the future and even if we may not be around to see it we still need to make it better for them. “Creative capacity for the richness they are.” Ted celebrates the gift of the human imagination. We need to use this wisely. Our job is to make something of it. Sir Ken Robinson mentioned three themes. 1) Extraordinary evidence of human creativity. 2) Living in a place in terms of the future that we have no idea what is going to happen. 3) The capacity children have. Something he mentioned that couldn’t be truer is the fact that creativity in education is important as literacy. He explains that all education systems on earth have the same hierarchy of subjects and system of arts where art is at the bottom. This is also true. He quotes Picasso “All children are born artist.” I also agree and that the problem is to remain artists as we grow up. I believe we all are born with a gift. We have a gift ”natural talent” something that we are for the most part good at whether it’s how we learn or how it was learned. So with that said we must put it into use. Another point of view is that education for one is very expensive so not many people can further it. Others may not have the encouragement to succeed and also our daily life issues sometimes get in the way. This is what Sir Ken Robinson means a lot of children’s talent is discouraged. If we make a mistake that mistake keeps us there because that’s what society teaches us. He says we are educating people out of their creative capacity. We do not grow into creativity we grow out of it. Everything he says is true I couldn’t agree more.

  18. Ken Robinson's remarks in regards to education have really caused me to think. From what I've interpreted, modern education has failed to overhaul itself and we are stuck learning in a manner that is almost a decade behind. His words cause me to question if we even are learning the way a 21 century student should be learning. What alarms me the most is how he paints the picture of ''academic inflation'' and how evidence of such can be seen today. OWS(Occupy Wall Street)protesters were college graduates with no jobs, simply because so many people have pursued an education. Could this be due to the lack of emphasis our educational system has in regards to creativity? It seems that with the death of creativity in our education, comes the decrease of value that education has overall. The very same education that we lean on so much as a ladder to success, will ultimately erode into a insignificant piece of paper that gives testament to our academic intelligence but not to our creativity. The revelations I've come across due to Ken Robinson's words intrigue, puzzle, and sadden me, for if modern education is so fixed upon complimenting subjects and traits that benefit the individual in a work based environment, am I to accept that I too have been subject to such treatment? This video makes me wonder if we've all been robbed of our creativity, and did we notice enough to mourn it.
